I used to have a picture of Dorothy Parker hanging over my desk. Then I moved and didn’t get around to hanging it up again. Now I’m not sure where it is, if it’s in storage somewhere or not. The motivating idea was that I would hang pictures that represented people I would hate to let down over the desk because then when I felt frustrated or stuck I would look up and there they would be. Guiding lights.1
I’m not sure it did any good. But it was a nice picture. Is a nice picture. Wherever it is.
