What is the deal with the very online right and Lana Del Rey (whom I know very little about)? When she first came to relative prominence they held her up as a new low in musical depravity (again, no idea if this reflects her actual songs), but then all of sudden they flipped and all loved her.
I think it's probably mostly that she uses a lot of classic Americana imagery… that plus the vague aura of "we're decadent and doomed" that hangs over her early albums. Like I mentioned above Lana presents herself in her early albums as living a wild life but also like she'll have to pay for it. She's very feminine but also presents herself as a bit trashy, she likes to use old Hollywood aesthetics, she's sort of a weird mix of ambitious and incredibly lazy… I think she's easy to love while also despising a little. And since these specific people (whether men or women) do not like women as a class very much they need that combo.
And I think while Taylor has that storytelling gift she brought from country music, Lana (who is heading into country) often cultivates that kind of feeling of life at a dead end, where you only have booze and love and beauty, that also characterizes a lot of classic country music. (Though I also think her music at its core is pretty optimistic.) So even though she's always been a pop act I think she taps into certain feelings that you tend to find in country, but in a cooler way. And country tilts conservative… so that's probably the other thing.
I think there's some other stuff (she dated a cop for a bit, she has an album that references chemtrails, she's probably the pop act most likely to have some very out there opinions) but they already liked her by then I'm pretty sure. And she's evolved a lot from her first couple albums, but much like Taylor herself, who is always kind of viewed through the prism of her early breakup songs, Lana's always sort of understood through those first impressions.
I like Lana a lot fwiw… she does not deserve the seed oil bros! But hopefully they at least buy the albums.

You’re right about everything—one might say sensible, like Taylor. ☺️
I try…
